NAPOLEON TWP (WILX) - Police say they have identified the people involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Napoleon Township Wednesday. Police are not releasing the names, while their investigation continues.

40-year-old Michelle Circoloff-Ganton of Summit Township was killed when she was thrown from the back of a motorcycle that was struck from behind by a car. After being thrown, Circoloff-Ganton was struck by an oncoming car. The accident happened shortly after midnight Wednesday along M-50 near Benton Road.

Police say the driver of the motorcycle and the driver and a passenger in the vehicle that struck the motorcycle from behind fled from the scene on foot, leaving Circoloff-Ganton. The driver and passenger of the oncoming car did not leave the scene.

Police say the driver of the motorcycle is a 39-year-old Summit Township man. A statement to the media does not say what relationship he had with Circoloff-Ganton. The driver of the car which struck the motorcycle from behind is a 42-year-old woman from Summit Township.

Police say neither person on the motorcycle was wearing a helmet. Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing and once completed will be forwarded to the Jackson County Prosecutor's office for review.
