A local roofing contractor is facing new charges. Antroy Deon Nathan, already charged Wednesday in Ingham County with fraud for a roofing job he sold in Lansing Township, was booked again Friday in Eaton County.
Nathan was arraigned on a charge of accepting money under false pretenses for more than $1,000 dollars but less than $20,000 dollars which is a five-year felony. He was also charged with performing occupational work without a license, a 90-day misdemeanor. Nathan was arraigned on $50,000 bond.
The charges are related to a home you saw on News 10 in Eaton Rapids last July. The family showed me a roof half torn off and tarped and the subsequent rain damage sustained when Nathan's crews never finished the job.
The owners paid Nathan up front approximately $9,000 dollars plus another $3,000 dollars for materials which were purchased.
We connected the family with Eaton County Prosecutor Doug Lloyd after he saw our investigation into Nathan's companies "Best for Less Home Improvement" and "Affordable Construction." Lloyd encourages anyone in Eaton County who feels they were ripped off by Nathan to call his office at (517) 543-4801.
Nathan was also arraigned Wednesday in Ingham County District court for failing to appear for a show-cause hearing for violating a court order not to do any home improvement work within a 60-mile radius of Lansing. That order remains in effect. Nathan was order by Judge William Collette to pay $8,000 or serve 65 days in jail.
