Two in Custody for Alleged Kidnapping of Amish Girls

Police now have two people in custody for allegedly kidnapping two Amish girls in upstate New York on Wednesday.

39-year-old Stephen Howells II and 25-year-old Nicole Vaisey were arrested late Friday night and are being held without bail until their preliminary hearing next week.

Police say the two worked together to kidnap a 12-year-old and a six-year-old from a family roadside stand earlier this week.

Both girls were set free and found the next day.

Officials say the girls were then able to help police locate their kidnappers.

Prosecutors accuse the couple of intending to hurt and violate the girls.
