ERIE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Southeastern Michigan authorities say that a 34-year-old Toledo, Ohio-area man apparently drowned after falling from a personal watercraft on a private lake.
The Monroe County sheriff's department says that searchers found the body of Jason G. Mitchell of Perrysburg, Ohio, about 1 p.m. Sunday in about 7 feet of water.
The lake is in Erie Township, just north of the Ohio state line.
The sheriff's department says in a statement that that a 28-year-old Ohio woman was operating the watercraft and Mitchell was her passenger. It says he fell off and disappeared under water about 8 p.m. Saturday.
The department says Mitchell wasn't wearing a flotation device. It says that searchers worked from 8:15 p.m. Saturday until 1:30 a.m. Sunday and resumed the effort after dawn.
