A two-year-old Jackson County toddler is in protective custody after he was found wandering along a Summit County sidewalk Thursday morning.
The child was spotted on McDevitt Avenue near Second Street by a passerby who called 911.
The child was in good health and while Jackson County Sheriff investigators attempted to locate family, he was turned over to the Department of Human Services.
Sheriff deputies went door to door in the neighborhood and used a reverse phone calling system alerting people that "A Child is Missing."
The father was eventually found. He told deputies he had fallen asleep after working 3rd shift the night before.
The child remains in the custody of Human Services and the investigation will be forwarded to the Jackson County Prosecutors Office for review.
