The Detroit Tigers were just one game away from what could be a sweep of the World Series when the threat of rain put everything on hold. Comerica Park was still dry when the announcement came around 8:15 p.m. Heavy showers arrived later on.

It's been a nailbiter of a series with the New York Yankees and fans are anxious. Though the game was delayed Wednesday, they're confident a victory will come.

People were coming out to Comerica Park whether or not they had a ticket. Fans wanted to be part of what could be a history making night.

The Tigers faithful will tell you there's something special brewing in Detroit.

"I didn't think it was going to happen, but it's here now looks like they're going to take it all," Mike Neckel of Dexter said.

It's a bit of magic, fans hopes will sweep the Yankees away. So, what's the Tigers secret to success this year?

"Pitching, Cabrera, Prince," Neckel added.

That optimism is translating into major sales at area bars and restaurants. As for tickets, you could call the interest overwhelming.

"Most of the people I've heard they're sold out or are getting tickets on last minute deals," one fan said. "A lot of money out here on these tickets, $120 tickets going for $300-$400."

"It's huge for us, especially being an event driven bar," Cheli's Bar Manager Nick Stepanski said. "We're only open for major events so the longer they play, it's all a bonus and with the lockout with the Red Wings we're feeling the hurt from that so any added Tigers games help us out immensely."

Tiger fans have faith in their team. They say the run will continue and they're willing to put their money on it.

"Oh yeah, we just got tickets this morning," Randy Locker of Ann Arbor said, of his pass to the World Series.

Business owners and managers say Detroit is ready to host World Series games. The city has recently seen a Super Bowl, Final Four and Frozen Four. They say a World Series would round it out.
