UPDATE: Verizon spokesperson says that service has been fully restored as of 11 a.m.
Many people in mid-Michigan have been living without their cell phone service for over 12 hours. A spokesperson for Verizon Wireless confirms that there has been a significant disruption in their service beginning before 6 o'clock Tuesday. The spokesperson did not know if other cell phone service providers like Sprint or At&T were affected.
Verizon spokesperson Trevor Thomas says the disruption was caused when a fiber-line was cut at a third party vendor in Bellevue, Michigan.
Thomas did not have an estimate on when cell phone service would be restored.
Verizon customers in southeast Michigan have been impacted. Thomas says the disruption seems to be mainly around the Jackson, Michigan area, but some customers as far east as Detroit have been affected.
