LANSING - A jury has found a Lansing teenager guilty of murder. Charles Lewis, Jr. was 13 years old in July of 2010, when he took part in the murder of Shayla Johnson. Although underage, Lewis was designated an adult for the trial. It is up to the judge to decide if Lewis will be sentenced as an adult, a juvenile, or mix sentences.
Shayla Johnson, 19, was shot to death July 23, 2010, after being thrown in the trunk of a car during what prosecutors said was a drug related robbery. Lewis is the first of the accused to be convicted in the case. Four other men are facing murder, robbery, and weapons charges in federal court.
