People affected by sexual violence are taking a stand Tuesday evening, through Take Back The Night.

The annual event brings together survivors of rape and domestic violence to raise awareness.

A candelight vigil began at 6:30 p.m. at Beaumont Field at Michigan State University. From there, people march to the Capitol for a rally led by Sen. Gretchen Whitmer (D-East Lansing).

According to RAINN, an anti-sexual assault organization, one in six women and one in 33 men will be the victim of rape or attempted rape in their lifetime.
