EAST LANSING - East Lansing Police have identified Marquay McCoy as a suspect in the murder of MSU student and the shooting of another. The 19-year-old McCoy was arrested in Grand Rapids Tuesday night as a parole absconder. East Lansing Police confirm McCoy is a suspect in the January 31 shooting death of Dominque James Nolff and another MSU student.

The shooting took place at an apartment in the 200 block of Cedar Street in East Lansing, adjacent to the MSU Campus. East Lansing Police say surveillance video, cell phone records and the work of several agencies, including the Michigan State Police Fugitive Team, Grand Rapids Police, U.S. Marshals Service, Tri-County Metro Narcotics and others led to McCoy's capture.

McCoy is being held at the Kent County Jail as a paroel absconder. There is no estimate on when he will be brought to East Lansing to face charges.

McCoy was sentenced to 1-4 years in prison in March 2013 for assaulting and resisting a police officer causing injury.
