There will be no shortage of love for the men and women still serving overseas this Valentine's Day.
Students at Windemere Park Charter Academy in Lansing have created hundreds of handmade cards for troops who can't be with their loved ones.
The cards were picked up Friday morning by one of the student's mothers--- whose husband is stationed in Afghanistan.
"When soldiers get things from kids, whether it's their own kids, or friends of their kids or kids they don't know, it's more heartfelt to know kids back in America are thinking of them and thanking them for their service", says Stephanie Sanchez.
The "Valentines for Vets" program was started in 1989 by newspaper columnist Ann Landers as a way to encourage people to send valentines to veterans in recognition of "National Hospitalized Veterans Week".
