Amtrak is offering an apology and refunds or credits for future travel to the people left stranded in East Lansing last week.
Nearly 20 passengers were stuck waiting fora train that never came during the bitter cold temperatures last Tuesday, after 2 trains got stuck in snow in Illinois.
That caused a ripple effect on the Blue Water line, which was bound for Chicago at the time.
Amtrak has also developed alternate plans to open the station if one or more ticket agents cannot open it as usual.
There are already plans in the works to update the facility in East Lansing, after CATA and MSU were given a $6 million grant from the Federal Transit Authority. The money will be used to construct a new intermodel station on the site of the current facility, which will be used by local buses, intercity buses and the Amtrak Blue Water service.
