A Lansing-area jury has found Republican state Rep. Bob Genetski of Saugatuck guilty of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
The verdict was read Tuesday in East Lansing District Court. He will be sentenced at a later date.
He was charged with misdemeanor drunken driving, which is punishable by up to 93 days in jail, a fine and community service.
Genetski is also facing the possibility of having his license suspended or restricted by the Secretary of State, plus 6 points of his license.
The 45-year-old Genetski was ticketed Jan. 19 by a Michigan State University police officer. His blood-alcohol level was 0.08 percent an hour and a half after his arrest.
Genetski said a few days later in a statement that he was heading to a motel after leaving the state Capitol area when the officer stopped him for "driving slightly above the speed limit."
Genetski is in his second House term.
