If you see a lot of state police around Lansing tomorrow, don't be alarmed. The Michigan State Police is participating in a mock exercise on Saturday, April 5, 2014.
The preparedness exercise will test the department's response to an Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) request for police officers to assist the State of Indiana with recovery
operations in the aftermath of a simulated earthquake. The scenario will require the mobilization of 60 MSP personnel from across the state to the Lansing area.
All of the personnel that participate in the simulated mobilization will be off-duty. This means that regular MSP policing operations will not be impacted as a result of this exercise.
