COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities say a 45-year-old man was killed when his snowmobile collided with a parked motor vehicle as snow fell in southwestern Michigan.

The Van Buren County sheriff's department says the crash happened about 9:15 p.m. Saturday in Columbia Township. It's about 25 miles northeast of Benton Harbor.

Sheriff Dale Gribler identifies the victim as Scott Friend of Decatur. Gribler says deputies believe that Friend was riding along a road when he struck the back of a vehicle parked along the road.

Snow was falling across the area at the time, but it wasn't immediately clear if weather conditions were a factor in the crash.
