Blackman Township (WILX) Parnall Correctional Facility has been placed under quarantine because dozens of inmates have come down with a flu-like illness.

Michigan Department of Corrections spokesman Russ Marlan says the number of sick inmates had grown to approximately 150 inmates on Thursday.

Marlan says the Corrections Department doubts the illness is connected to the discovery of Maggots and fly-larvae near the prison's food line.

The quarantine means prison visits are canceled and transfers of inmates in or out are suspended.

So far, one staff person at the prison has been sickened. Staff are not under quarantine and can come and go.
