LEONI TWP, JACKSON CO. - A man is stabbed in the chest, after he allegedly shot another man. Shortly after mid-night Friday officers with Blackman-Leoni Public Safety were called to a home in the 6000 block of Young Road in Leoni Township for a report of a shooting. While on the way, officers were told the shooting suspect was driving away from the home. A statement to the media says that officers were told that the "the shooting suspect had been stabbed by the homeowner's father in defense of his son."
Police were able to stop the car not to far from the home. In the car was the 22-year-old shooting suspect with a stab wound to the left chest area and had lost a substantial amount of blood. He was taken to Allegiance Health. Police say his is in serious, but stable condition.
Other officers arrived at the Young Road home, where the 27-year old homeowner was found with a gunshot wound to his upper arm. He too was taken to Allegiance Health by ambulance and is listed in fair condition.
