Stabenow Wins Third Term
DETROIT - Senator Debbie Stabenow will represent Michigan in the U.S. Senate for 6 more years. "I am deeply honored and so grateful to Michigan voters for giving me the opportunity to once again be your voice and to stand up for Michigan as your United States Senator," said the Democratic senator in a written statement to the media. "Now, I'm ready to get back to work bringing together Republicans and Democrats to get things done. To have a middle class, to create jobs here, we need to do what we do best - make things and grow things.
Stabenow's Republican opponent, former Congressman Pete Hoekstra, conceded the race before 11 o'clock. "I congratulate Senator Stabenow on her third term in the U.S. Senate and hope that she will listen to the ideas from the other side of the aisle to form policies that will get the job done for the people of Michigan."
As of this writing Senator Stabenow had a 56% to 40%.
