All lanes of I-94 near Jackson are now open for travel, after emergency crews cleared the roadway after multiple accidents closed the highway Wednesday morning.

Westbound I-94 near Jackson has been reopened, however the eastbound lanes remain closed due to a series of accidents Wednesday morning.

Jackson County Undersheriff Chris Kuhl tells News 10, the closure is between Elm Avenue and US 127 south.

There isn't an estimated time for reopening the eastbound lanes.

It started as Blackman Township Safety officers were investigating a fender bender in the eastbound lane of the interstate.

Almost simultaneously, there were additional crashes in the westbound and eastbound lanes, including several semi tractor-trailers.

There were injuries, but no conditions have been released.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
