IONIA COUNTY - An Ionia County high school teacher is charged with two felonies, accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student. Saranac High School Teacher Krag Sanford, 59, was charged with two felony counts of distributing sexually explicit materials to a minor, in addition to felony charges for soliciting a minor for immoral purposes he faces in Kent County.

A statement from the Ionia County Sheriff's office says that Sanford is alleged to have begun the criminal activity in the summer of 2010. The sheriff office received the report of the crime and began an investigation in November of 2010.

Sanford turned himself in for arraignment Thursday. Further details on what happened were not made available by the sheriff's office.
