The Republican Governors Association is preparing to launch a TV ad in Michigan's race between Republican Gov. Rick Snyder and Democrat Mark Schauer.
The association starts airing the ad on broadcast and cable networks Tuesday. It's expected to cost at least $500,000 and run for up to two weeks.
The ad will be made public Tuesday morning.
The Democratic Governors Association has ended an initial ad campaign that criticized Snyder and praised Schauer, who seeks to become better-known with voters. The ads lasted for more than a month.
Schauer was a legislative leader when Democrat Jennifer Granholm was governor, and Republicans seek to link him to what they call her "failed" policies. Schauer also served one term in Congress and voted for the federal health care law.
