Quarantine Still in Place But Cases Drop

57 inmates still have gastro-intestinal problems at Parnall Correctional Facility in Jackson.

The corrections department said that the quarantine is still in place, although 122 inmates are symptom free and have been cleared to resume normal activities. The prisoners who are still sick are getting health care treatment in a designated area.

The cause is still unknown, even though this is one of the same facilities where maggots near the food line were suspected of making some prisoners ill.

Last Thursday, 150 inmates and one prison employee were quarantined for flu-like symptoms.
