The public toured the former Genesee Street School in Lansing Thursday.
The building has just been listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The school opened in 1912. It has been home to a number of groups and programs over the years.
The current owner, Zero Day, will use the building to train veterans to restore older buildings.
