Immigration Protest at Kalamazoo & Pennsylvania

By  |

A large group is gathering at a protest against allowing undocumented immigrant children to come into the United States, at the intersection of Kalamazoo and Pennsylvania Avenue in Lansing.

The gathering started at the home of an anti-immigration supporter. Protesters waved signs and American flags.

The protest also included counter-protesters, some of them from a group called "By Any Means Necessary" who want to allow immigrant children, mostly from Central America to seek refuge in the U.S. One of the counter-protesters was handcuffed by police and taken from the scene for trespassing.

Anti-immigration protesters then left the area, and moved their protest downtown to the Capitol Building.

Approximately 40-50 people from both sides were participating in the protest.

We have a reporter at the scene and we'll keep you informed on the situation. Tune into News 10 at 6 p.m. for the full story.
