Power Problem Interrupts GM Production at Lansing Delta Township Plant

A transformer supplying power to General Motors' Lansing Delta Township assembly plant malfunctioned during a repair process Wednesday morning and caused a power outage to much of the plant.

Production was stopped at about 9 am. GM spokesperson Erin Davis says power was restored within 20 minutes, but because equipment had to be checked, the morning shift was canceled.

About 400 workers, less than half the shift, were sent home early.

Second shift workers reported as scheduled.
