Don't be surprised if you see a Meijer plastic bag in your mailbox soon.

It's to encourage you to donate to the Stamp Out Hunger food drive. Meijer donates the bags to be filled with food or toiletries.

Leave the bags by your mailbox Saturday, and postal workers will pick them up.

"We will also have volunteers who will be driving around the neighborhoods collecting the bags as well to help speed up the process because it does tend to be a very long day," said Rita Delazaro, a letter carrier.

The donations are taken to local food banks. Last year, people gave enough to make 100,000 meals.

You can donate non-perishable foods, toilet paper, and personal care items.
