EAST LANSING - East Lansing Police say an observant neighbor likely prevented burglary in the Cedar Village Apartment complex by MSU. East Lansing Police detained three people from Detroit, after a caller told police about some suspicious activity in the area at about 3:30am Wednesday. The caller said they saw two men going in and out of buildings throughout the apartment complex. When police arrived, the two subjects ran out of the apartments and into the Red Cedar River. They were captured without further incident.

One of the men detained, 25-year-old Leondius Kirksey, was out of prison on parole for two home invasions that took place in East Lansing in 2008. The other man, a 23-year-old was charged with disorderly conduct, and a 22-year-old woman was also charged with disorderly conduct. Police say none of the three are affiliated with MSU.

East Lansing Police detectives are investigating whether the three are involved in an other recently reported home invasions in the city. There have been several reported burglaries of apartments where the patio doors have been left unlocked.
