We first told you about a diet pill linked to liver damage a few weeks ago on News 10 Today. Now, that pill is being recalled by its producer. It's called OxyElite Pro. And it claimed to help people safely lose weight and build muscle. But now, dozens of cases of liver failure and hepatitis are linked to the drug. the pill's producer, USP Labs of Dallas, decided to voluntarily recall the drug, after the FDA said they would halt distribution of the dietary supplement. The FDA says one death is linked to the pill and multiple people are awaiting liver transplants because of side-effects from the supplement. Most of the cases are in Hawaii, but there are some in other states, as well. The Centers for Disease Control have confirmed 56 cases of liver illnesses connected with the pill since April 1st. The FDA is urging consumers who took the supplement to contact their doctor and file a report with the FDA.
