LANSING -- A new WILX poll shows voters about evenly split over whether or not they like Michigan's controversial emergency manager law.

The law allows the state to take over communities and school districts in financial distress.

The poll, conducted by EPIC-MRA, shows 45 percent of respondents would repeal the law, while 42 percent would vote to keep it, and 13 percent were undecided or refused to answer the question.

The state is currently considering the appointment of an emergency manager for Detroit. Fifty percent of respondents to the survey say the city should not do so, with only 31 percent in favor.

The results have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
