Police Urge Caution After Craigslist-Related Robbery

A reminder to take precautions when buying or selling things on Craigslist, after a man was robbed at gunpoint Sunday night.

Police were called to the One Stop Food Mart on E. Grand River Ave. just before midnight for a man who said he was robbed by two men who were going to buy an iPod he listed on Craigslist.

A similar robbery happened on the city's west side last week.

Craigslist has tips on its website to make sure something like this doesn't happen to you:

--Meet in a public, well-lit place like a cafe or police station
--Be sure to tell a friend or family member where you're going, or bring them along
--Always trust your instincts

There's a chance you could be buying stolen property, too. On Sunday, a Jackson County sheriff's deputy took a report in Hanover from someone who bought a phone off Craigslist. When that person tried to activate it, the phone was found to be stolen.
