Police suspect alcohol may have played a role in the accident that closed the intersection of Holmes Road and Washington Avenue in Lansing Tuesday night.
They believe speed and alcohol were factors when the driver of the Pontiac collided with a pickup truck, a collision with enough force to knock the bed of the truck off the chassis.
Officers say the driver tried to run away, but was eventually caught and taken to a hospital. The driver and passenger in the pickup were hurt. The passenger has serious head and neck injuries.
Police say they will be seeking numerous charges against the driver responsible.
