CINCINNATI (AP) -- Police say a man shot and killed a dog that had broken free from its chain and was attacking a Cincinnati woman.
Police say the man who shot the dog and saved the woman kept walking after the incident.
WLWT-TV in Cincinnati reports (http://bit.ly/1c9HOaZ ) that the attack happened in the East Price Hill neighborhood about noon on Friday.
Police told the station a mail carrier was trying to get the dog off the woman when the man walking down the street pulled out a gun and shot the animal.
Neighbors said they didn't recognize the man. Police say he didn't do anything wrong and wouldn't be charged. The Hamilton County Health Department will test the dog's body.
