BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Authorities in southeastern Michigan say they're investigating the possible abduction of an 18-year-old woman who reported stopping to check on a person lying on the side of the road.
The Monroe County sheriff's department says the woman was on the phone with a friend about 10 p.m. Thursday when she stopped at an intersection in Bedford Township, about 50 miles southwest of Detroit and near the Ohio border.
While still on the phone, the department says the woman told her friend that an unknown male had a gun and was following her. A few minutes later, the sheriff's department says the woman's unoccupied and idling vehicle was found in the area.
The department says an air and ground search is planned Friday. Authorities are asking for tips from the public.
