Police Identify MSU Freshman Found Dead Saturday

The university has reached out to her family and says grief counseling will be available this week.

East Lansing, MI - The Michigan State University freshman found dead Saturday morning in East Lansing has officially been identified by police.

They say she is 19 year old Jiayi Dai of China.

East Lansing police found her unresponsive in an apartment in the 300 block of Pin Oak Lane just before 8 a.m. Saturday. She was declared dead at the scene and foul play is not suspected at this time.

Police say excessive alcohol consumption may have been a contributing factor. Their investigation into Dai's death continues.

The university has reached out to her family and says grief counseling will be available this week.
