Here's one way to draw attention to the fight against breast cancer. More than 1,000 pink ribbons were put up around downtown Lansing Thursday as part of the fifth annual Lansing In The Pink Week.

The week includes specials at downtown businesses and a storefront decorating contest. It all helps raise money for Susan G. Komen of Mid-Michigan.

"The dollars we raise, 75 percent go right back into the community," said Chris Pearson, executive director of Susan G. Komen of Mid-Michigan. "We're supporting organizations for screening and diagnostic programs for individuals that don't have adequate insurance and resources, everything from early detection to survivorship programs."

The Race for the Cure is a week from Sunday at the State Capitol. There is still time to sign up to run, fund raise, or volunteer.
