A scheduled demolition of part of the old Consumers Energy Building in Jackson did not go as planned on Friday.
The demolition crew taking down the building had scheduled to bring down the back half of the structure this morning using a crane and wrecking ball.
Only part of the building came down as expected, leaving a section of the structure that is now buckling. The remaining section is leaning towards the First Congregational Church on Jackson Street, that stands nearby.
The demolition crew will try to bring it down without it collapsing on the church. WILX Alyssa Fenske is on the scene and will have the full story at six.
