Okemos Football Coach Out

Okemos High School announced Thursday that second year head football coach Jack Wallace is being replaced effective immediately. Okemos has a 0-4 record and plays at Sexton Friday night.
Wallace, 58, compiled a 2-11 record after serving 31 years as head coach at Fowlerville High School.
Okemos High School principal Christine Sermak said in a statement released Thursday afternoon "based on a text that student-athletes received from Coach Wallace last night, Coach Wallace will no longer be coaching football at Okemos High School."
Okemos players were notified of the change at a Thursday morning meeting after school officials met. Assistant coach Mike Krumm will serve as head coach on an interim basis.

Here is the letter sent by Okemos Principal Christine Sermak:

Dear Okemos football parent/guardian,

The purpose of this email is to provide you with accurate information regarding Okemos High School's head football coach, Mr. Jack Wallace. The OHS administration spoke with the varsity football team today during the FLEX period and communicated the following information:

• Based on a text that student-athletes received from Coach Wallace last night, Coach Wallace will no longer be coaching football at Okemos High School.
• Because of this, the administration met this morning to determine a plan to ensure our student-athletes have a quality experience on and off the football field for the remainder of the season.
• In moving forward, Mr. Mike Krumm will serve as interim Head Coach, and Mr. Ethan Fahy will serve as interim Associate Head Coach.
• Administration cannot discuss personnel matters with students, staff, parents/guardians, media, etc.
