BERLIN (AP) -- President Barack Obama is calling climate change "the global threat of our time."
In a speech today in Berlin, Obama issued a call to tackle global warming. It's an issue he has promised to make a priority since his 2008 presidential campaign.
Obama told the crowd of some 4,500 people who turned out to hear him at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate, "Peace with justice means refusing to condemn our children to a harsher, less hospitable planet."
He said the U.S. has expanded renewable energy from clean sources and is doubling automobile fuel efficiency. But Obama says without more action by all country, the world faces more severe storms, famine, floods, vanishing coastlines and displaced refugees.
He said, "This is the future we must avert."
