The Senate has passed a bill raising the minimum wage to $9.20 an hour by the year 2017.
Right now the minimum wage in Michigan is $7.40 an hour. The wage hike is higher than republicans initially proposed, and democrats are calling it a good compromise. The bill repeals the existing minimum wage law and creates a new one.
That means the ballot proposal raising the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour would moot, because as written, it amends "current" law.
