Murder Charge Filed in Death of Mich. Med Student

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities have filed a murder charge against one of three suspects in the fatal shooting of a University of Michigan medical student.

Shaquille Jones appeared in a Washtenaw County court Friday on charges of open murder and other crimes. Paul DeWolf was found dead at his off-campus medical fraternity in July after failing to appear for work at an Ann Arbor hospital.

Police two weeks ago announced the arrests of three people, but the 21-year-old Jones is the first to be charged. He's from North Charleston, S.C., and has no attorney yet.

DeWolf was attending medical school on an Air Force scholarship. People who knew him were stunned by his death, saying the 25-year-old had no enemies. Robbery may have been a motive.
Jones' next court date is Dec. 5.
