DETROIT (AP) -- A 54-year-old motorist is in critical condition at a Detroit hospital following a beating by a neighborhood mob moments after he struck a boy with his truck.
Police Sgt. Michael Woody says Thursday that no arrests have been made in the attack Wednesday on the city's east side.
The motorist's name was not released. Woody said the man was not at fault and stopped to check on the boy after hitting him about 4:10 p.m. when people from the neighborhood began to beat him.
The man suffered head injuries.
Desmond Key says his 10-year-nephew, David Harris, was struck by the truck and is expected to recover.
Key tells The Associated Press he didn't recognize the half-dozen people he saw beating the driver. Key says they were not the boy's relatives.
