FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities in southeastern Michigan say a 39-year-old man accidentally shot a 30-year-old man to death.
The Monroe County sheriff's department says the accident happened about 5:45 p.m. Saturday at a home in Frenchtown Township, near Monroe.
The department says in a statement that deputies answered a call and found 30-year-old Michael B. Rawlins in the kitchen with a gunshot wound in the head.
It says a 39-year-old Monroe "was handling a firearm near the victim when the gun accidentally discharged."
The release says that Rawlins died of his injuries at South Shore Hospital.
The department says its investigation is continuing.
