KALKASKA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities in northwestern Lower Michigan say a disabled 55-year-old man has died in a mobile home fire in Kalkaska County.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/yue7aH ) Saturday that Dan Lee Harmon was ill in bed when the fire started Friday morning. Authorities found his body on the bedroom floor of his Kalkaska Township home.
Township Fire Chief Derek Hogerheide says he and several others couldn't enter the home, which was quickly engulfed in smoke and flames. Harmon's wife and daughter were working on a vehicle in an attached garage but also couldn't go in the house.
Fire officials don't know the cause but Hogerheide says it might have started in the kitchen. A state fire marshal will join in the investigation.
