PARMA, JACKSON CO. - A man suffering from Alzheimer's, and missing for nearly a day, is found alive, tangled in the brush in rural Jackson County. Deputy Dan Deering located the elderly man at about 2:30PM Friday. Deputy Deering saw movement in a thick patch of briars on the east side of Brown Road, north of Campbell Lake near Parma.
76-year-old Ismail Raheem was dehydrated but in good spirits. Raheem was taken to Allegiance Hospital for treatment.
Raheem walked away from a private care facility on Brown Road Thursday at about 7:30PM. Law enforcement officials and volunteers searched that night, as well as a state police helicopter. The search resumed in earnest Friday morning.
