Congratulations to two mid-Michigan graduating seniors---

Kaitlin Marrison of Waverly High School and Zachary Richardson of Grand Ledge High School both received full scholarships to MSU.

They were selected from more than 1,100 seniors who applied to MSU and took an intensive general knowledge exam. They were then selected by a committee made up of faculty and administrators based on the results of the exam, high school programs and achievements, other standardized test scores and interviews.

The scholarships are valued at nearly $120,000 and cover tuition, room and board and a stipend for up to eight semesters.

“Year after year, the Alumni Distinguished Scholarship Competition brings to MSU some of the most gifted young scholars in the world,” said Jim Cotter, director of MSU Admissions. “As history has proven itself time and again, these students are difference-makers who assist this great institution in becoming even greater.”

In all, 20 incoming MSU students will receive either an Alumni Distinguished Scholarship or University Distinguished Scholarship.

All students will join MSU's Honors College along with more 500 other outstanding incoming students.

“We are excited to welcome another class of promising scholars to campus this fall,” said Cynthia Jackson-Elmoore, dean of the MSU Honors College. “Congratulations to the students who are now part of this unique community at MSU.”
