Polls across Michigan began opening at 7 a.m. today, and will stay open until 8 p.m. tonight.
A few reminders for voters:
- Do your research. You can help speed up the voting process by checking out a sample ballot online before you head to the polls.
- The busiest times to vote are before work, after work, and during lunch hours. If you can, vote during late morning or late afternoon.
- No cameras are allowed into the polling location. Your ballot can be rejected if you show it anyone, including online.
- You can't hand out campaign flyers, carry signs, or wear campaign-related clothing within 100 ft. of a polling place.
- Bring a photo ID. If you don't show it, you'll have to sign an affidavit stating you're legally allowed to vote.
- You're encouraged to fill out the entire ballot, but you don't have to.
- If you fill out the "straight ticket" box, the non-partisan races will be left blank, so you'll have to do those yourself.
- Be patient and courteous if there is a wait.
- As long as you're in line before 8 p.m., you can vote.
