NILES, Mich. (AP) -- Amy Gourlay didn't win the recent $648 million Mega Millions jackpot. But she's pleased with the consolation prize.

The Niles resident in southwestern Michigan matched five numbers and won $1 million, actually $700,000 after taxes.

Gourlay tells MLive.com she was "very shocked" to win such a large prize. The 46-year-old calls it an "out-of-body experience."

Gourlay says she usually spends $5 on tickets when the jackpot gets big, but she doubled her bet for the Dec. 18 drawing. She and her husband have no big plans for the money and will probably invest it so their family and community can benefit in the future.
