The Michigan Film Office has millions in new funding, and is spreading the word for Hollywood to film here. The Film Office has $58 million in grants for movie projects, which is $33 million more than it had last fiscal year.
$50 million of that money was included in the budget for this year, plus an $8 million dollar rollover from last year. The Film Office says it is running several ads in Hollywood papers, and a spokeswoman says they will even make a trip to Los Angeles in an effort to woo filmmakers to Michigan.
They expect to spend all of the $58 million.
Several big movies have been filmed in the state including "Scream 4" and parts of Hugh Jackman's "Reel Steel," which was filmed in Mason.
