Michigan Dairy Farmers Feel No Effect From Tough Winter

By  |

Even though the cold winter reduced milk production, Michigan dairy farmers say that they haven't seen cost jumps like farmers on the west coast.

At a dairy event at the Capitol Wednesday, they talked about how growing their own feed helps keep costs down. Member of the "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals," or PETA, protested at the dairy event, handing out vegan pizza and encouraging people to use soy milk instead. They say it's healthier and reduces the need for dairy cows.
