PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) -- A Michigan woman has been charged with falsely reporting a rape, months after news of similar reports led to the release of a man convicted of assaulting her in a separate case.

Sara Ylen told police last September that she was assaulted at her Lexington home. She has been charged with filing a false felony report and tampering with evidence.

Ylen, 38, could not be reached for comment Saturday.

In 2003, James Grissom was convicted of raping Ylen. He was released last fall after authorities learned that she had made false rape claims in California years earlier.

The Associated Press doesn't name victims of sexual assault. But Ylen talked freely to the Port Huron Times Herald about the Grissom case, saying she wanted to speak publicly as a victim.
